What is WIJS
WIJS is a Dutch-American economic advisory and sand box firm based in the American South. WIJS offers advisory, sand box workshops, consulting, executive coaching, intercultural training and start-up/scale-up mentoring.
WIJS’ convening platform builds transatlantic economic ecosystems and aligns greenfield development, optimizing long-horizon collaboration.
The WIJS Elements:
RUIMTE: Strategic space for orientation.
ZICHT: Clear sight for long-range decision-making.
KERN: Core clarity beneath complexity.
GROND: Grounded, pragmatic alignment.
WIJS works where regional, institutional, and cross-border systems intersect , where decisions shape long-term outcomes and clarity matters more than noise. Rather than reacting to complexity, WIJS helps people, organizations, and regions respond with boots on the ground, efficient, long horizon strategy.
Who Is WIJS
WIJS was developed by Monique Ravesloot, a Dutch-American strategist who helps leaders create conditions for innovative collaborations, often in sandbox environments.
Her work brings together leaders of institutions, businesses, economic development partners, educational and workforce institutions, regional innovation initiatives, and cross-border collaborators to create shared orientation and strategic alignment toward bold growth that matters.
Across two decades of work on both sides of the Atlantic, Monique has helped complex systems move from fragmentation to coherence - aligning public and private interests, clarifying strategic direction, and shaping decisions that have lasting impact.
Monique does not work from abstract theory. She works from boots on the ground, first hand experience and insight, engaging with the real dynamics of regional growth, public-private ecosystems, and international collaboration.
WIJS is where structural clarity emerges, enabling effective decision-making and durable outcomes. WIJS offers strategic advisory, sandbox workshops, consulting, executive coaching, intercultural training, and start-up/scale-up mentoring, in South Carolina and The Netherlands.
Why The Pink Tulip
The tulip isn’t just a flower. It’s a Dutch masterclass in strategic, regenerative growth. Every year, 6.5 billion tulip bulbs disappear underground in the Netherlands, quietly building strength in darkness. They are not idle. They know what comes next.
The tulip is a reminder that meaningful growth depends on conditions, not force.
Before anything is visible above ground, the ecosystem has to be assembled correctly. Soil, timing, climate, and spacing determine whether growth will take hold or fail. In greenfield environments, this work happens early and largely out of sight, long before outcomes can be measured.
WIJS works in the same way.
In regional development and transatlantic collaboration, success depends on how well ecosystems are aligned before activity accelerates. Companies, teams, institutions, education and workforce systems, public agencies, and partners must be positioned in relation to one another so growth is supported rather than constrained.
Like the tulip bulb, this work is about preparation and placement. Strength is built below the surface through alignment, trust, and shared orientation. When conditions are right, growth is not forced. It emerges naturally and holds over time.
The tulip represents greenfield development done well: patient, structured, and grounded in the understanding that lasting outcomes are the result of coherent systems, not isolated effort. And that is the work of WIJS.
